Just wanted to post real quickly and mention how great a time the Texas
shows were! I travelled down and saw the Dallas show and then
drove to San Antonio with Alex, Jason B. and Terry for our 3rd row seats.
As soon as the lights went down, we abandoned our seats and rushed the
platform jetout that was just in front of our seats and to the left! As
far as I am concerned, there was no better place to be! Right in front, my
arms on the platform and Dave, Martin and Andy all came up to
me/us and we all copped feels and shook hands as they were offered. It was
phenomenal. My best DM experience to date.
To boot, the we went to the hotel we thought they guys would be at to
have some cocktails. After finishing 1/2 of my first drink, we found out
they were just down the street at another place. Sure enough, there was
Fletch! We all went in, grabbed a table and waited for everyone to
arrive. I immediately went up to Fletch, but was politely asked to allow the
group to get settled before approaching them.
Finally Martin arrived, so did Peter and Christian. Only Dave was
missing. I got my 3rd row ticket signed by Andy, Martin and Peter too. They
were all very nice, obliged our requests for signatures and photos and
engaged in idle chat while doing so. The best part was Andy recognizing
me from the show! When I gave him my ticket to sign, the girl with him
commented on how it was a very good seat. I then said, yeah.. but I
didn't sit in it.. and Andy chimed in to say "Yeah, I remember you from the
front of the platform. You were there for the whole show! Glad to
see you had a good time!" That was great! Good to know they actually do pay
attention to who's in the crowd.
Next thing ya know, Martin yells out "PETER!" and after some chit chat,
they were stumbling over to the piano! We all took our seats and the
bar shooshed a bit and Peter played piano while Martin sang "Moon River". It
was great! A total shock, Martin was very casual and just having
fun with it. They sang one other song before that.. but then the bar was
closing as it was past 2am at this point. So, they wrapped it up. I did
get some video with audio of them playing.. It is still on the camera and I
will eventually share it with everyone when I get the time, promise. I
am off on vacation for 10 days leaving tomorrow, so I won't be able to get
this posted till I get back.
Finally to end the night, on our way out.. Martin was by the door saying
goodbye to friends and fans... I stepped up and asked if he minded if I
take a picture of the two of us. He immediately said sure and no sooner did
I have the camera in front of our faces to snap a shot.. right as he
drank from his beer! Yes, its true. My one and only shot with Martin is of
me grinning and him sippin his Bud. Too funny. Jason got a really
good one with Martin, lucky bastard!
Many thanks to Alex, Terry, and especially Jason Bromberg for letting me
tag along to San Antonio with you guys. It was awesome to hang
with the bong folk and I hope to make it a tradition for future tours.
(Sorry if I stole some of your thunder Jason for posting first! But that's
    what
happens when you only get 1hr sleep and head home right away! You guys are
probably still on the road right now back to DFW.)
    Take care everyone,
