UNICORNS V SURREY LIONS at Wormsley (CB 40League), 22 August 2010

The corresponding fixture at the Oval earlier this season was rained off without a ball being bowled. Judging by the forecast for High Wycombe tomorrow, the weather is likely to intervene in this contest, which would be a blow to Surrey's chances of securing a semi-final place.

Only four of the batsmen likely to be on show for the Unicorns have enjoyed any real success in the Clydesdale Bank 40. Their 37-year-old skipper Keith Parsons heads the list of run-makers with 299 at an average of 49.83, although Mike O'Shea is in close attendance with 262 at 52.40. The other two are hard-hitting opener Jackson Thompson and wicketkeeper Josh Knappett.

Medium-pacer Glen Querl, 22, has led the way with the ball, taking 11 wickets at 26.72 runs apiece to date. At times the likes of Neil Hancock, Chris Peploe and Neil Saker have bowled economically, but, generally speaking, the Unicorns' attack has rarely tested opposition batsmen this summer.

This will be Steven Davies's 100th appearance in List A cricket and Gary Wilson's 70th. For the Unicorns, Jonathan Miles is set to make his tenth List A appearance.

Chris Tremlett (heel) is rested for this encounter. After failing to impress in the CB40 clash with Sussex at Guildford, Tim Linley looks likely to make way for one of Steve Cheetham, Stuart Meaker and Chris Schofield.

If the Lions lose this game, Chris Adams can start clearing his desk. I can't see that happening, but it will be interesting to see how two former Surrey players - Chris Murtagh and Neil Saker - perform for the Unicorns. No question - Lions victory.

J Thompson, C Murtagh, J Knappett (wk), M O'Shea, K Parsons (capt), N Hancock, S Park, N Saker, R Querl, C Peploe and J Miles.

Martin Bodenham and Neil Mallender.
