DERBYSHIRE V
SURREY at Derby (Metro Bank One-Day Cup)
22 AUGUST 2025
Seventh in Group A
hosts eighth. Defeat for one of these, who have only met once in
List A cricket since 2015, will end of any remaining hopes they have
of moving forward to the knockout phase in this summer's Metro Bank.
The less said
about Surrey's 50-over campaign the better, with just two batters
(Ryan Patel and Ollie Sykes) averaging over thirty and only the now
injured Alex French, 18, posing a serious wicket-taking threat.
The stand-out
batsman for Derbyshire has been Tasmanian left-hander Caleb Jewell
(247 Metro Bank runs at an average of 61.75). Matt Montgomery -
since moving across from Notts - has enjoyed scores of 42, 92 and 47
while Amrit Basra and skipper Brooke Guest have also contributed.
Rory Haydon, a
22-year-old seamer from Staffordshire, has looked a handful with the
ball, with 5 wickets at 27.20, as has Ben Aitchison (8 at 28.25),
who is well into his sixth season at Derby. By and large, though,
Derbyshire's bowling has lacked penetration - particularly against
Gloucestershire, who racked up 341-8 at Cheltenham.
Surrey v
Derbyshire - List A Records Sheet

If they play, Ralphie
Albert and Ollie Hunt will be making their professional debuts. Ari
Karvelas, who has 49 List A career wickets, looks set for his first
outing as a Surrey player after joining on loan from Sussex. Rory Burns (1,933) is
approaching 2,000 List A runs. Turning to the hosts, Harry Came
(999) is a whisker away from 1,000 List A career runs, while Caleb
Jewell will be making his 50th List A appearance.

Alex French and Cam Steel have joined
Ealham, Fisher, Patel and Sibley on the injured
list, which means Ralphie Albert, Ollie Hunt and Ari Karvelas could be
handed Surrey debuts.
