LEICESTERSHIRE V SURREY at Leicester (Royal London One-Day Cup), 26 JULY 2015

Like Surrey's Gary Wilson, the Foxes are currently missing Niall O’Brien and Rob Taylor owing to international calls, which means only 22-year-old all-rounder Tom Wells comes into the One-Day Cup with any tangible limited-overs batting form behind him. Mark Cosgrove was Leicestershire's leading run-maker in the T20 with 299 runs at an average of 27.18. But, Wells and Cosgrove apart, the hosts' batting line-up for this match is unlikely to worry Surrey, who, of course, know all about Epsom-born Michael Burgess.

Australia's Clint McKay was the fulcrum of Leicestershire's bowling attack in the NatWest T20 Blast. Ben Raine, who matched McKay's 14 T20 wickets, remains one for the future. Indeed, one can see the Foxes using the remainder of the 2015 season to give a number of youngsters the chance to get valuable experience under their belts. Opener Aadil Ali and off-spinner Rob Sayer, both 20-year-olds, seem likely to start tomorrow (weather permitting). But Charlie Shreck, who played no part in the Twenty20s, returns to offset what appears to be an over-reliance on youth.

If he plays, Leicestershire's Michael Burgess will be making his county debut. Burgess, a 21-year-old keeper-batsman, who was, until recently, on Surrey's books, has four first-class appearances behind him - for Loughborough MCCU.

Three names have been added to the eleven that lost at Lord's in the NatWest T20 Blast last Thursday - James Burke, Aneesh Kapil and Tim Linley come in, while Azhar Mahmood bows out to end up with a 13-man squad. Azhar has now played a total of 70 T20s for Surrey, averaging 25.13 with the bat and 23.86 with the ball.

The weather forecast for tomorrow points to a 100% chance of rain, which usually means you really can forget it. That would be unfortunate for Surrey, not just because Leicestershire are the competition's outsiders, but also because the Oval outfit have won each of their last seven against the Foxes in List A cricket. Prediction - no result, sadly.

A Robson, A Ali, M Cosgrove (capt), N Eckersley (wk), B Raine, M Burgess, T Wells, C McKay, R Sayer, O Freckingham and C Shreck.

Mark Benson and Steve Garratt.
