SURREY V DERBYSHIRE at Guildford (Royal London One-Day Cup), 2 AUGUST 2015

The Group A leaders take on Derbyshire - who have won two and lost two to occupy fifth spot - for only the second time at Guildford. Derbyshire's last visit to Woodbridge Road was way back in 1939. It proved to be a fruitful one, with George Pope taking 6-44 and 5-46 to power the Peakites to victory by an innings and 43 runs over Monty Garland-Wells's men.

Derbyshire's batsmen have prospered in this season's Royal London One-Day Cup, when they have got in. Billy Godleman is fresh from a match-winning 109 not out against Northants, plus Hamish Rutherford (110) and Wayne Madsen (106*) made hundreds in vain at Bristol, where Gloucestershire chased down a D/L adjusted target with six wickets in hand. Unfortunately, for the Peakites, Rutherford is currently injured and Tillakaratne Dilshan, his replacement as the overseas, doesn't arrive until Monday.

With the ball, the seam-up of Alex Hughes and Shiv Thakor, and the off-spin of skipper Wes Durston has been frugal to say the least. But the wicket-taking dangers are undoubtedly left-armer Mark Footitt, 21-year-old Ben Cotton and 18-year-old Matt Critchley, who bagged figures of 4-48 in Friday night's seven-wicket victory over Northamptonshire.

Jason Roy (1,924) is approaching 2,000 one-day career runs. Meanwhile, Derbyshire's Wes Durston, who is poised to take guard for the 100th time in List A cricket, is also just two wickets away from 50 one-day scalps.

A winning side means a settled side. Surrey have now named the same 13-man squad four matches running.

Difficult. Surrey are riding high in Group A and the Peakites are without an overseas. But, Derbyshire have been unlucky AND it is Guildford, where the hosts have won just one of their last eight List A contests. Mind you, the side batting second has taken the spoils on eight of the last nine occasions. My money's on whichever team wins the toss and bowls first.

B Godleman, W Durston (capt), W Madsen, M Critchley, C Hughes, S Elstone, A Hughes, S Thakor, T Poynton (wk), B Cotton and M Footitt.

Steve Gale and Martin Saggers.
