SURREY BROWN CAPS V GLAMORGAN DRAGONS at the Brit Oval (Pro40 League), 12 AUGUST 2009

Glamorgan's recent one-day record at the Oval is pretty dire, with only one victory to show from their last seven visits to SE11 in List A cricket. Furthermore, the Dragons haven't exactly set the world alight in limited-overs cricket this summer, due to the lack of a hard-hitting batsman and wicket-taking bowlers. Herschelle Gibbs, who made an unbeaten 47 at more than a run a ball against Warwickshire when the Pro40 kicked off last month, is capable of rectifying the first deficiency, but the South African has been struggling with a hamstring injury recently and is thought unlikely to feature tomorrow night.

If there has been a key man for Glamorgan this year it has been skipper Jamie Dalrymple, who is averaging 47.00 with the bat and only conceding 4.38 runs per over with the ball in List A cricket. Tom Maynard and Gareth Rees are joint top run-scorers, with 224 runs at an average of 37.33, plus 21-year-old Ben Wright has hinted that he has a bright future ahead of him as batsman. But the potential dark horse tomorrow night is 22-year-old opener Will Bragg. If Gibbs is fit, the man to miss out will almost certainly be Michael Powell, who is only averaging 12.77 in one-day cricket this term.

The Dragons' attack will include the former Leicestershire all-rounder Jim Allenby for the first time, but the dangers for Surrey would appear to be David Harrison (11 List A wickets at 28.90 runs apiece so far in 2009) and Garnett Kruger. With that being Glamorgan's likely seam trio for tomorrow, the spin will be provided by Dalrymple plus veterans Robert Croft and Dean Cosker. So, on paper at least, the visitors would appear to have more than enough bowling options.

For Surrey, Gary Wilson currently has 49 dismissals in List A cricket, but if there are any more milestones looming I can't see them!

Mark Ramprakash is in the Surrey squad for the first time in this summer's Pro40 League, but James Anyon, who the Brown Caps have taken on loan from the Bears, doesn't make the teamsheet. Andre Nel (elbow) also misses out, which leaves the bowling looking a bit thin.
