SURREY V GLAMORGAN at the Kia Oval (Royal London One-Day Cup), 1 AUGUST 2016

Following today's 186-run drubbing by Hampshire at Swansea, Glamorgan have slipped to seventh place in the South Group, one place below Surrey on net run rate, which underlines the significance of tomorrow's clash at the Oval. Surrey, who have won three out of their last four, still need to take the spoils in this and Tuesday's trip to Lord's to be certain of a quarter-final berth. Lose one of them, or suffer an abandonment, and it could get very tense indeed.

Despite having gone off the boil dramatically in this season's Royal London One-Day Cup, Glamorgan have some dangermen for Surrey to be wary of. Colin Ingram (367 one-day runs this summer at an average of 61.16) and Will Bragg (321 at 40.12) are two. Ingram has also been frugal with the ball, as has Craig Mescede, while the Welshmen have looked to Hogan and Wagg for the wickets.

Gareth Batty has a pretty handy one-day record against Glamorgan - 16 List A wickets at an average of 18.75, including a 4-14 for Worcestershire at Cardiff in the Pro40 promotion/relegation playoff, in 2008.

Jade Dernbach will start tomorrow's clash with the Welshmen on 199 one-day career wickets. Meanwhile, Glamorgan's Jacques Rudolph (9,980) is approaching 10,000 List A career runs. Craig Meschede has 47 one-day wickets.

Zafar Ansari is still out with a back injury, otherwise the look of Surrey's 15-man squad is as one would expect it.

Surrey have won nine out of their last 10 List A meetings with Glamorgan at the Oval, including each of the last five. Also, Glamorgan come into this game having lost their last four. But, unfortunately, there could be weather around. If the rain stays away, one would have to say that the hosts are hot favourites.
