SURREY BROWN CAPS V LEICESTERSHIRE FOXES at the Brit Oval (Pro 40 League 2), 6 AUGUST 2006

The recent history between tomorrow's opponents suggests that the psychological advantage is with Leicestershire. Surrey have lost seven of their last nine limited-overs meetings with the Foxes, if one counts the 2004 Twenty20 Cup final at Edgbaston, but Jeremy Snape's men have been surprisingly short of runs in List A cricket this term.

Darren Robinson has been consistent, Paul Nixon (271 runs at an average of 67.75) has worked wonders at the death while Darren Maddy has had flashes of brilliance, like when he collected a career best 167 not out off the Scottish Saltires. But one to keep an eye out for is 22-year-old Paul Harrison, who has done well in a couple of List A matches for Leicestershire this year, after coming to Grace Road via Sussex, Warwickshire and Loughborough UCCE.

With the ball, Ryan Cummins (11 wickets at 18.09 runs apiece) and David Masters (11 wickets at 21.45) are currently the Foxes' leading List A wicket-takers. Claude Henderson has kept things tight with his left-arm spin, while Jim Allenby and Nick Walker have also impressed on occasions.

Rikki Clarke is set to make his 100th List A appearance and, if he plays, Ian Salisbury will be playing in his 250th List game and needs three more for 250 List A wickets.

Rikki Clarke is expected to play despite injuring his thumb in the field today, however if he and Surrey choose to play things safe, Scott Newman will be the only new face in the eleven that trounced Derbyshire at Chesterfield last Sunday.
