SURREY LIONS V LEICESTERSHIRE FOXES at the Kia Oval (CB 40League), 8 MAY 2011

Leicestershire have not enjoyed the best of starts in this summer's Clydesdale Bank 40. Losses to Northants, Warwickshire and Durham have been offset by a 32-run victory over the Scots. Indeed, one has to go back to 2005 before finding a season in which the Foxes won more games than they lost in the corresponding competition.

In their last game the Foxes would have lost to Durham even more comprehensively had it not been for Jacques du Toit's 87 off 78 balls. Du Toit has looked effective at the top of the order, while James Taylor remains the fulcrum at number three. On another day, the 21-year-old's century against Warwickshire may well have been a match-winning contribution. That it didn't is down to Leicestershire's porous attack. Even the normally reliable Claude Henderson has had his off days, particularly against the Bears, when he returned figures of 8-0-70-1.

Surrey's Gary Wilson needs three more runs for 1,500 in List A cricket. For Leicestershire, Claude Henderson is set to make his 250th one-day appearance, Matthew Hoggard has 198 List A wickets and Jacques du Toit has 985 one-day career runs.

Surrey have everyone fit. Stuart Meaker looks poised to make his first appearance of the season in the CB40. Despite being the Lions' overseas player, Yasir Arafat, if based purely on form, would appear to be the most likely man to make way should Meaker get the nod.
