YORKSHIRE PHOENIX V SURREY BROWN CAPS at Scarborough (Pro40 Division 2), 26 AUGUST 2007

This will be first one-day game between these two sides to be played at an out-ground since Surrey's visit to Scarborough in 1994, which Adam Hollioake's men won by a thumping 205 runs thanks to hundreds from Alistair Brown and Graham Thorpe and Hollioake himself hitting the fastest ever one-day fifty by a Brown Cap.

This fixture is also crucial to Surrey's chances of making a late bid for promotion in the Pro40 League. Two of their five remaining matches are against the only unbeaten sides in the second division - this being one of them - but if Mark Butcher's men come away from Scarborough with a victory the one team yet to win a game, Glamorgan, will be there for the taking at the Brit Oval on Bank Holiday Monday.

For Yorkshire, Inzamam-ul Haq, who averages a tad under forty in one-day internationals, has been added to a batting line-up that has been in awesome form in List A cricket this summer. Anthony McGrath is averaging 77.60 thanks to hundreds against Lancashire and Durham (though, curiously, the Phoenix went on to lose both FPT encounters). Behind McGrath in the Tykes' batting averages lie the 23-year-old Andrew Gale (75.25), Jacques Rudolph (60.71), Gerard Brophy (49.80) and Tim Bresnan (43.00) - who, of course, has chosen to stay at Headingley rather than move south to the Brit Oval next term.

With the ball, the Phoenix's one-day attack has been built around skipper Darren Gough (18 wickets in List A cricket at 19.94 runs apiece), Jason Gillespie (11 wickets and an economy rate of 3.62 runs per over) and Rich Pyrah (17 wickets at 21.47 and an economy rate of 4.43). In case Pyrah hasn't caught your attention to date, he is a 24-year-old seamer who also boasts a first-class batting average of 34.20 from seven appearances. If he plays, also watch out for 22-year-old slow left-arm spinner David Wainwright.

Mark Ramprakash has 11,981 List A career runs. For Yorkshire, Tim Bresnan has 944 List A runs to his name and Craig White has 99 catches in List A cricket.

The Brown Caps add Mark Butcher, Richard Clinton, Jade Dernbach and Stewart Walters to the side that beat the Derbyshire Phantoms last Sunday, while Jimmy Ormond and Mark Ramprakash are rested. What about Rikki, I hear you ask... hmmm, seems strange that he's been left off the teamsheet again given that the latest news is he's over his mystery virus. Mind you, Clarkey wasn't selected for the twos against Kent in the week either. Intriguing.

Yorkshire have got their tails up right now following their crushing of Warwickshire in the championship. Surrey's last two one-day visits to Tyke country have brought them wins, but not by much. So, expect the boot to be on the other foot this time.
